Just dropped in for a beer and a snack. Great gyoza and happy hour prices. Good service and atmosphere

It's a quaint little spot, family own. I wasnt impressed by the food or quality. The bbq eel was wack. But a cool lunch spot for date or business lunch. I will not return. Nice staff.

High quality, fresh , lots, & fair pricing. Ribeye steak teriyaki is tender & delicious. Hamachi inside outside roll is satisfying. Assorted sashimi is fresh, thickly sliced, a good deal. Tempura is perfectly fried, crunchy outside , soft & moist inside. Can’t wait to try their uni and other items on menu.

Great place with staff and food that make trip worth it. The sushi is all fresh and they have live prawns that are ready to eat. There is a drink and food special before 6 PM.

Good service and good food

First time at the "new" Tatsu. Good sized portions. Not cheap. Beware that they use imitation crab. $3 extra for real crab. Spider roll soggy and using imitation crab in over mayonnaised filling. Sashimi fresh and large pieces. Would go back if in neighborhood for sashimi, but there are better places nearby.

We have been going here for over 5 years and knew the original owners well. The style was Japanese with clear Chinese Influence. Now its under younger ownership, with updated look and new menu. Also they no longer close between lunch and dinner so you can come between 3-5 unlikely before. Plenty of parking and usually not overcrowded, but for larger parties reservation is highly recommended for them to rearrange the tables for you. I have had an adult birthday there and it was a blast and fairly prices as well.

Tatsu was nice but I just learned about a restaurant call The Corner Tavern in Walnut Creek. Looking on line it seems to be in a different class of restaurant type. Could someone enlighten me about the Tavern compared to Tatsu? My wife took me to the Tatsu for dinner and I enjoyed it but when I found that she had been to The Corner Tavern with her girl friend she said it was a dump. The Corner Tavern looks nice online to me. Southern California couple. Wife works up north.

Very friendly staff! We had a lot to do and they allowed up to take over a whole table with laptops, rulers, boxes, and etc. The food was even better. Quality fish and service.

I adore this spot! They prepare awesome dishes, their menu is rich, The cook in that restaurant is a real authority in the kitchen, I love a lot eating all their food. The dishes are consistently fresh, the service towards the clients is nice. I go often to this restaurant and I not even once was discontended. I recommend it with no hesitation.

Delicious and large sized rolls. Great variety and selections. Fresh fish and everything was prepared with great aesthetic appeal. Our waitress was mostly good. Except she brought us the wrong item, seemed to realize it when she presented it, and proceeded to tell us the one we ordered was out. I dont really care. But it was dessert and my girlfriend wanted what she asked for. I dont think that was true. but everything else was superb!

Amazing Japanese Cuisine virtually in the middle of Suburbia. Worth the trip from the City, and certainly great if you already live in Walnut Creek.

++UPDATE++CLOSED!!!Not long after I wrote this long overdue review, we showed up for dinner to find the place dark. Note on the door saying ‘thanks and bye’. So sad. Really going to miss the family and the food. +++Love the food and the family that runs it. Elvin is a joy and I love seeing his smiling face when we stop in. Been coming here for years and it’s where my kids learned to love sushi. Creative rolls always made fresh.++

A friend and I went on Tuesday April 17 2018, with her 4 year old son. We ordered two rolls, terriaki chicken, salad and soup. We finished all of it but one roll which we did not like. When we finally had to aske for the bill, we asked to have the roll removed from the bill. The female owner started screaming at us and as we tried to leave she continued to hold the door shut, and would not let us leave. My friend grabbed her son and tried to go out the back. The female owner ran through the restaurant and pushed the door shut and pushed my friend who was holding her son who was shaking. This was they most unprofessional experience I have ever witnessed, and a disgrace for someone who has been doing this for as long as she has.

I am happy to give this restaurant 4.5 stars. They really deserve it. Starting with the fish freshness and complimented by sophisticated menu options, Tatsu had established itself as one of the best sushi restaurants in the Walnut Creek/Alamo/Danville area. I recommend you to try this place - there is a good chance you'll become a loyal, frequent customer!

Lovely service! We came in today at around 2:07p and they actually close for a little bit at 2:30p. We didn’t realize that until we opened the door but they gladly accommodated us! We tried to eat quickly but we didn’t feel rushed at all. The food was delicious, especially the Protein Roll & fried gyoza. Atmosphere was on point too! I will definitely come back!

Gotten better! I've avoided Tatsu because they always rushed you or brought out one person's meal and not the other's. Went there this time & sat at sushi bar so that was not a problem. Very good sushi! Well proportioned, fresh & flavorful. Waitstaff still has problems I suspect; took forever to get some tea (half way through meal it finally showed up). Place was really busy & I think they were overwhelmed.

My favorite, sushi in east bay!!!!

The room was cold, the rib eye was tough, not enough rice was served (how much could rice cost?), & because the back kitchen does not pay attention to how they prepare their foods, there was cross contamination of shell fish juices onto the salmon that my wife ate. She immediately got sick & had an allergic reaction. For those who are allergic to shell fish, i would not recommend going here. It is a serious health issue. Hopefully, they will correct this problem soon, but we will never go back. P.S. - The service was good.

Wonderful experience, the sushi pieces are huge and thick and fresh and tasty. The owner Jimmy found out I like seafood udon which was not on the menu, he personally made one for me! I highly recommend this newly opened Japanese restaurant. I will come definitely again and bring my friends and family.

I really, really wish I could have loved this place. Wish. I ordered with doordash and request extra wasabi. There was no Wasabi sent. None. No ginger either. My Unagi rool and my Chirasi definetly should have had it. Not a cool move. I am incredibly disappointed.

This is my favorite sushi restaurant. It's family-owned and friendly. The fish is always fresh and the sushi rolls are on the larger side. For sushi lovers, a must-try is the Fresh Wasabi Sashimi Salad. For those that are skeptical about eating raw fish, there are lots of other options on the menu. And for those that can't decide, there are combination bento boxes. Ample free parking.
